Abstract

23,094. Hardaker, L. Oct. 9, 1911, [Convention date]. Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and pneumatic, rubberring, and like cushions ; compression-spoke wheels. -In wheels of the kind having an outer loose tread ring 20, Fig. 3, and an inher ring 17 carried by the axle, with interposed pneumatic or other elastic cushions 18 and interengaging ribs 19 and slots 21, the inner ring is of such a size that it can pass through the outer ring. The cushion may be carried either on the outer or inner ring, and the ribs and slots may be at the sides as shown, or in the central plane in which case cushions may be disposed on each side thereof. Teeth 27, 28, Fig. 13, may be provided on the periphery of the ribs and in the bottom of the slots to take the drive, and the spokes 29, Fig. 14, of the inner ring may be in the form of vanes or flat metal twisted so as to direct a current of air between the rings.
