Abstract
1, 039, 218. Air cooled apparatus for condensing vapours. HAPPEL G.m.b.H., [trading as GEA LUFTKUHLERGESELLSCHAFT HAPPEL G.m.b.H. & CO., KOMM GES]. June 14, 1965, No. 24956/65. Addition to 976, 019. Heading B1B. Vapour, e.g. steam, is condensed in an aircooled condenser comprising two groups of finned tubes 6 connected to upper and lower headers 7, each group consisting of downflow tubes c and reflux tubes r connected downstream of the downflow tubes, all the reflux tubes being juxtaposed. The downflow tubes of each group are cooled by air blown by a separate fan 3, and a separatelyenergized fan 4 is provided to cool all the reflux tubes commonly. The vapour to be condensed is introduced through line 1 into the upper headers of the downflow tubes. Relatively non-condensable gases are withdrawn through vacuum line 5 from the upper headers of the reflux tubes. The condensate is withdrawn from the lower headers through lines 2. The speed of the fans 3 may be controlled, or the fans may be automatically switched on or off, in response to predetermined changes in the temperature of the condensate.
