Abstract

1,035,828. Envelopes; filing papers. TENSION ENVELOPE CORPORATION OF KANSAS CITY. Sept. 26, 1963 [July 5, 1963], No. 37956/63. Headings B6A and B6E. A multi-purpose envelope for mailing insurance policies, certificates, documents and which is suitable for re-use as a filing jacket for the latter articles, includes a pair of overlying rectangular panels 2, 3, Fig. 7, defining a pocket 8 having an insert opening 18 and a withdrawal opening 14 associated with a sealing flap 19 and closing tab 10, respectively. The closing tab 10 may be articulated to the panel 3 along a fold line 11 defined by perforations 23 which are ruptured by pulling of an enclosure 29, Fig. 11, which may be withdrawn by the recipient. The tab 10 is adhered to the panel 2 by an adhesive 12. Both adhesive 12 and adhesive 22 may be of the re-moistening or pressure-sensitive type. On rupturing of the tab 10 the envelope is used as a filing jacket. The envelope may be provided with a window opening 27 to expose an address 28 on the enclosure 29 and a further window opening 30 (Fig. 8, not shown) covered by a transparent patch 31 may be provided to expose a desired portion on the enclosure. To facilitate removal of the enclosures registering finger notches 15, 16 are provided.
