Abstract

<PICT:1035457/C1/1> In a sulphur burner of the type wherein air passes over a pool of molten sulphur, and the effective area of the pool is varied by an upstanding conical plate, as in Specification 1,033,577, the following improvements are prescribed: (a) air may be supplied to the combustion chamber in two stages, one air pipe supplying at the level of the conical surface, and the other in the zone of the flame of burning sulphur. Each pipe may have its own regulating mechanism, and they may be fixed tangentially to the chamber. (b) The combustion chamber wall may be provided with fins to dissipate heat faster. (c) A sight glass may be provided at the top of the combustion chamber. (d) The feeder valve of the burner is operated by a lever from the bottom of the burner. (e) The gas outlet pipe may be located tangentially at the top of the chamber.
