Abstract

A thread commencement is drawn off a spool 1 by subjecting the spool to a swirled flow along its length. Air inlet nozzles are fitted in the side wall of a tube 2, Fig. 1 (not shown), in a manner causing air passing from the nozzles into the tube 2 to spiral up the tube.
