Abstract

The gun has an outer tube of insulating material having pref. a flared outlet, and a inner element of insulating material mounted concentrically in the tube to define an annular passage along which fibres are passed in an air stream. The electrode is carried on the pref. flared end of the inner element within the outlet of the outer tube, to charge the fibres before they pass to the earthed substrate onto which they are to be coated. Pref. the fibres are entrained into a compressed air stream by venturi effect, and pref. part of the fibre flow passing through the annular passage can be recirculated.
