Abstract

1369567 Wall drying conduit E AMBOS 13 June 1972 [24 June 1971] 27552/72 Heading E1S A conduit for installation in an inclined position in a wall for aerating and drying the masonry, comprises a perforated tube 1 having a central longitudinal partition 9 carrying constricting necks 10 on one side to be located in the upper half of the conduit in use and having an opening 11 after each neck 10, so that in use air flows into the upper half of the conduit, is constricted by the necks thereby creating suction to draw moisture from the masonry, and then passes through the openings 11 and flows out through the lower half of the conduit. The tube 1 may be assembled from several spigot-and-socket jointed sections, and may have an air deflector 12 with a constricting neck positioned in its mouth 2. The deflector 12 and the partition 9 of the outer tube section may be removed, and a cartridge containing a hygroscopic material may be inserted into the tube, both the partition 9 and a pair of ribs on the cartridge being receivable in turn in a pair of diametrically opposite internal grooves in the tube.
