Abstract
885,054. Oesophageal tubes. CELESTIN, L. R. Oct. 11. 1960 [Oct. 23, 1959], No. 36031/59. Class 81 (2). An oesophageal tube 10 has a solid bougie 13 associated with it, which can be attached to its lower end by means of a plug portion 17 and secured by means of a thread passed through aligned holes 18, 19. The bougie is of circular crosssection but the tube is elliptical, to facilitate passing obstructions, and has a barrelshaped funnel 12 at its outer end. The bougie is introduced and then pulled through, using an incision through the stomach wall.
