Abstract

1,035,155. Rotary hydraulic motors and pumps. H. N. WHITE, H. C. WHITE AND H. N. WHITE sr. Aug. 27, 1964 [Aug. 27, 1963], No. 35193/64. Heading F1F. A rotary hydraulic motor (or pump) comprising a first cylindrical casing 10, Fig. 1, having an internally-toothed inner wall, cooperable with an eccentrically mounted rotor 16 having one less tooth than the inner wall, includes a pin 33 connected to the rotor by a spline connection 34. The pin 33 is formed on either side of the rotor with extensions. One of which 33a is received in an eccentric bore 30a in a valve plate 28 so that on hypocycloidal movement of the rotor 16, the valve plate orbits about the casing axis without rotating to control a ring of ports, 25a, 26a, 27a, one for each tooth in the inner wall. The valve plate 28 is mounted in a second cylindrical casing 18 having a radial inlet port 22 for pressure liquid and an axial outlet port 23 and is recessed so that in orbiting, pressure liquid is delivered to parts 26a and exhausted from ports 25a, the ports 27a then being masked, to drive the rotor. The other extension is connected by means of a splined connection 44 to drive an output shaft 46. In another embodiment, the valve plate is also formed with an outwardly-extending axial output shaft which rotates in the opposite direction to the output shaft 46 and at six times its speed, there being six teeth on the rotor.
