Abstract
1,030,693. Retaining vehicles in lift cages. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. Sept. 6, 1962 [June 6, 1961], No. 20417/61. Heading B8E. [Also in Divisions B7 and F2] A stop for railed vehicles, comprises a member 1, Fig. 1, mounted by a square section spindle 2 in rubber bushes 3 which bias the member 1 to the shown position with face la abutting the base 5 of mounting bracket 4. The stops are mounted in a mine cage in conjunction with axle stops to normally hold a mine car 6 stationary, but the member 1 is rotated when the mine car receives a sufficient momentun or moving force to allow the car to enter or leave the cage. A switch 13 is operated to give a signal when the car is in a position other than a central position in the cage. The member 1 may be locked in its raised position by positioning a resilient-material faced member immediately beneath member 1, the member 1 being released when the cage reaches a decking level, Fig. 4 (not shown). In Fig. 5, a plunger 21 is normally held raised by springs 25 and is prevented from being depressed by wheel W by a locking member 27; this member is withdrawn by levers 29 when rotated by a roller 32 being engaged by a cam mounted for example just before an unloading station is reached in a mine shaft, so that the mine car can be pushed from the cage. The levers 29 are biased by rubber bushes to project the member 27 beneath plunger 21, Fig. 6 (not shown). Should it be impossible to enter member 27 beneath plunger 21, due to the non-central positioning of a car in a cage, then a spindle on levers 33 contacts a trip upon movement of the cage to stop the cage. Two connected plungers may be spaced apart to form a trough for a wheel. An elongated plunger may extent between a pair of wheels.
