Abstract

855,690. Keps; fork lift trucks; platform elevators on vehicles. BURTONWOOD ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. May 15, 1959 [May 16, 1958], No. 15774/58. Classes 78 (3), 78 (4) and 78 (5). A safety mechanism for a lifting platform, e.g. in a lift, a rear end loader of a lorry, or a fork lift truck, comprises a cam 15 secured to the platform and a stationary platform supporting spring bolt 7 which permits cam 15 to pass freely in an upward direction, and which is retracted to permit the platform to be lowered, when cam 15 is raised above lever 14 and then lowered thereby causing the lever to retract the bolt by pressure on a stud 11. The bolt and spring 10 are housed in a base 3 in a block 1, which is slotted to accommodate lever 14. A bar 8 engages a flat 6 on the bolt to limit its extension, and to hold it against rotation.
