Abstract

888,123. Vehicles with elevating platforms. DENNIS BROS. Ltd. July 22, 1960 [May 4, 1959; Feb. 2, 1960], Nos. 15110/59 and 3597/60. Class 78 (4). [Also in Group XXV] The cab 3 of a vehicle with an elevating platform 4 is set to one side of the chassis so that the platform 4 can be lowered alongside the cab to be loaded or unloaded at its forward end. In the vehicle illustrated, which serves for loading baggage into aircraft, the platform 4 is supported by a scissors linkage 5, 6 and is raised and lowered by upper and lower pairs of rams 28, 29. The platform 4 can be locked in elevated position by a wedging device (see Group XXV) operated by a further ram to lock the slide 13 supporting the lower end of the link 5. Rams 32 may support the chassis of the vehicle from the ground when loading and unloading. Pushbuttons may control circuits effecting the operation of the rams in a proper sequence of predetermined operations.
