Abstract

991,661. Vehicles with elevating platforms. SPARSHATTS (METAL BODIES) Ltd. Aug. 22, 1961 [May 30, 1960], No. 19071/60. Headings B8E and B8H. To restrain the hydraulically operated raisable platform of a vehicle particularly one of the kind used for loading cargo or passengers into aircraft) from lateral tilting, the platform is connected to the chassis by one or more transversely disposed scissors linkages, the or each linkage comprising two links 15, 16 pivoted together at their crossing point and each pivoted at one end to the platform 1 or chassis 2 and at the other end slidable in a transverse guide 18 or 19 in the chassis or platform respectively. The raising is effected by hydraulic cylinders 3 operated together by a common control, and lengthwise tilting may be minimized by longitudinally disposed scissors linkages 6, 7. The pivots of these longitudinally disposed linkages may be provided with sufficient play to allow for slight lengthwise tilting, e.g. up to about 5 degrees from the horizontal.
