Abstract

1318416 Container handling attachments for lift trucks MANNS MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT Ltd 29 July 1971 [30 July 1970] 37031/70 Headings B8H and B8Q An hydraulically-extensible beam 3, provided at each end with a twist lock 5, is mounted in a frame 6 which is supported by the lifting carriage of a lift truck so as to be movable about two perpendicular axes to align the beam 3 with a container 100. The frame 6 is provided with a pair of brackets 12 each formed with a slot 12a, one slot being horizontal, Fig. 8, and the other being vertical, Fig. 9 (not shown). A bar 8 on the lifting carriage passes through the slots and is urged towards one end of each slot by a spring 13. The lower end of the frame is provided with a heel 17, for engagement with a support bar on the lifting carriage, and with a rubber-faced bearing surface 7. In operation, one twist lock is located in one pick-up point of the container and the truck or attachment is moved causing the attachment to move relative to the bar 8 so that the other twist lock may engage its corresponding pick-up point. The twist locks 5 are hydraulically actuated and are provided with indicators for indicating their actuation, Fig. 10 (not shown).
