Abstract

1387670 Masted lift trucks F BENGEL A SAUTER and U SAUTER [trading as ALBERT IRION NACHFOLGER] 27 March 1972 [26 March 1971] 14285/72 Heading B8H In a lift truck control system provided with a push-button device for pre-selecting the height to which the load support is to be raised, a further device is incorporated whereby, for each shelf level pre-selected, the load support is raised to one of two heights associated with the pre-selected level in dependence upon whether or not the load support is carrying a load. As shown, a lifting-height detector 5 attached to the mast la comprises electrical contacts 21a, 21 urged towards drums 18, 19. An electrically conductive spring strip 20 having non-conducting markings corresponding to predetermined lifting-heights runs between the drums 18, 19. As the lifting carriage rises, the drum 19 is rotated by a belt or cable 7. In operation, on pressing one of the buttons 23 of a height pre-selector 10, the desired lifting height is set, two lifting heights being assigned to each button and two signals being registered. A sensor 3 on the lifting carriage detects the presence or absence of a load by means of a pivoted lever 2 and supplies a corresponding signal to the pre-selector 10 which then feeds the appropriate registered signal to a comparator circuit. The comparator circuit compares the chosen registered control signal with the signal from the contact 21, this signal resulting from a reference signal supplied to the contact 21a by the pre-selector 10. When the compared signals become the same, the comparator circuit closes an electromagnetic valve 8 in the pressure pipe 13 leading to the lifting ram. On returning a hydraulic control valve 11 to the neutral position, a sensor 9 emits a signal cancelling the signals registered in the pre-selector 10.
