Abstract

1,026,882. Irons. MORPHY-RICHARDS (CRAY) Ltd. July 22, 1963 [July 20, 1962], No. 27990/62. Heading D1A. An iron comprises a soleplate 3 and a heat store 1, and means for regulating the transfer of heat from the heat store 1 to the soleplate 3 which is maintained at a lower temperature than the heat store. The iron is of the cordless type and the heat store is heated by an element 2 when the iron is on its stand with connections (e.g. 12) engaging in a socket. The heat store 1 is pushed towards the soleplate 3 by a spring 4 adjustable by a knob 5 against the action of a bimetal strip 6. When the soleplate is at its required temperature the bimetal strip pushes the heat store out of contact with the soleplate and when the soleplate cools the heat store is pushed back into contact by spring 4. The heat store is advantageously kept at about 450‹C. and may contain in a cavity a metal fusible at this temperature to utilize the latest heat of fusion.
