Abstract

952,685. Electric toasters. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Feb. 4, 1963 [Feb. 2, 1962], No. 4451/63. Divided out of 952,684. Heading A4D. An electric toaster as described in Specification 952,684 includes means for adjusting the length of the stroke of the bar 18, this is made temperature responsive and is therefore subject to heat developed in the toaster. A lever 32 is pivoted at 33 to the platform 13 and connected to a bimetal strip 37. This strip extends lengthwise of the bar 18, projects through a slot 40 in the bar 18 and engages a block 41, which thus constitutes a stop to limit return movement of the bar. The face of the block 41 has a step 43 in it to provide two abutment surfaces 44, 45 so that as the strip 37 heats up and becomes curved its end 42 is deflected over the step 43 and allows the bar 18 to take a longer stroke.
