Abstract

1006657 Electric fires GENERAL ELECTRIC CO Ltd 17 Sept 1962 [15 Sept 1961] 33179/61 Headings F4W and W45D A radiant heater comprises a heating element 1 in a tube 2 of refractory material mounted on a reflector 3 which is mounted on a casing 4 provided with a terminal box. Reflector 3 is detachably mounted on casing 4 by clips 15, each comprising a pair of spaced legs 16 engaging guides on the rear face of reflector 3 to permit longitudinal movement of reflector 3 relative to casing 4. The guides are formed by the turned-over ends 17 of stay 18 rivetted to reflector 3. Legs 16 may be braced apart to prevent inadvertant release of the reflector from the casing. Tube 2 is supported so that the reflector may move longitudinally with respect to the tube by the ends of the tube 2 being a sliding fit in ceramic socket members 7 supported in holes 11 in reflector 3 by spring clips 12. The ends of element 1 terminate in connectors 6 from which leads run to the terminal box. In a modification, Fig.4 (not shown), instead of clip 15 a pair of separate legs is provided, one of which may be pivotably mounted on the casing, their free ends being braced apart.
