[Also in Groups XI and XXII] In an electric iron (see Group XI) having a clamping plate in front and rear sections 14, 15 holding a heating element 13 in intimate contact with a recess formed in a sole plate 1, the rod 25 of a temperature regulating device of the type described in Specification 756,029 is adjustably secured at one end to the section 14 and has its other end operatively connected to a switch 26 mounted on the section 15 or the sole plate 1, the switch being operated by the differential expansion between the sole plate and rod when the former is heated.
