Abstract

1,025,343. Radiator caps. GENERAL MOTORS Ltd. Feb. 25, 1965 [March 5, 1964], No. 9458/64. Heading B8T. A closure member for vessels subject to changes in internal pressure, e.g. cooling systems for I.C. engines, comprises a main valve member 10, to relieve excess pressure, and held, by spring 8, in sealing engagement with a filler neck, and a secondary valve 6 comprising a disc 19 of resilient material, preferably rubber, secured in a cap 14 by a central boss 20, and sealing one or more openings 18 in the cup 14. Under-pressure is relieved by deflection of the disc periphery, against its inherent resiliency, away from the openings. The cap spring disc 7 has vent openings (not shown).
