Abstract
In reforming gasolines containing at least 50% vol. of paraffins over a platinum-group metal previously reduced with hydrocarbon-free hydrogen, using reforming conditions of 875-990 DEG F., 200-700 p.s.i.g., 1-20 wt./wt./ hr. and 3-50 mols. of hydrogen per mol. of hydrocarbon, the total feed and effluent water content is maintained below 100 p.p.m. Drying of feed and recycle gas may be effected as described in U.S.A. Specification 2,952,611, e.g. with alumina. In one embodiment high recycle gas rates are used particularly to the later reactors in multi-stage processes, e.g. a recycle ratio of 2-8:1 in the first reactor is increased to 10-50:1 in later reactors. Rhodium and platinum are preferred catalysts. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 994,412.
