Abstract

A steel comprises: <TABS:1021405/C6-C7/1> the balance, apart from impurities such as phosphorus and sulphur, being iron. The steels may be hot worked at 850-1150 DEG C., solution treated at 700-1000 DEG C., quenched, and precipitation hardened at 300-600 DEG C. After the hot working step a diffusion treatment at 1000-1300 DEG C. is preferably applied.
