Abstract
A method for producing a hollow body from aluminium alloy sheet having a thickness exceeding 1 mm., comprises roll plating the sheet on one or both sides with pure aluminium, forming the hollow body with a pure aluminium interior surface, brightening the pure aluminium by a known process, forming anodically a porous layer of aluminium oxide of a thickness less than 2m on the brightened surface, applying a layer of lacquer to the porous oxide layer and thereafter stoving the hollow body. In the example a sheet of aluminium-magnesium-silicon alloy plated with pure aluminium is drawn to form two barrel halves which are then welded together to form a beer barrel. The inner surface of the barrel is pickled with sodium hydroxide, brightened, provided with the porous oxide layer by anodic oxidation, coated with an epoxy resin and stoved.ALSO:A method for producing a hollow body from aluminium alloy sheet having a thickness exceeding 1 mm., comprises roll plating the sheet on one or both sides with pure aluminium, forming the hollow body with a pure aluminium interior surface, brightening the pure aluminium by a known process, forming anodically a porous layer of aluminium oxide of a thickness less than 2m on the brightened surface, applying a layer of lacquer to the porous oxide layer and thereafter stoving the hollow body.
