Abstract
1,019,170. Continuous heat treatment furnace. A. ZERVER, and H. ZERVER. June 5, 1963 [June 9, 1962], No. 22302/62. Heading F4B. In a heating furnace more particularly for small forgings in swaging shops, the furnace hearth is inclined and constitutes the beginning of a discharge shoot for the heated forgings, the shoot being inclined at the same angle as the hearth. In the form shown, the furnace 1 is inclined upwards towards its rear end and is also canted sideways. Forgings 2 are loaded into a magazine 4 from which they are fed by a piston and slide into the furnace 1, pushing each other along in an upward direction to the end of a straight-edged guide bar 7. The sideways cant of the furnace then causes them to slide sideways and discharge into a shoot leading to a drop-hammer, said shoot being adjacent the heating zone of the furnace. The shoot and hearth are inclined and canted at the same angles to prevent the forgings tipping over. The slope in either direction can be adjusted by a telescopic means 13 on leg 11 and pivots by which the furnace is attached to the legs 10, 11. In a modification, the hearth is canted only transversely to the longitudinal centre line of the furnace and the discharge shoot runs sideways out of the furnace at the same cant as the hearth, the forgings swinging around the end of the bar 7. The furnace may be fired by coke or coal, fuel oil or gas or may be heated by an electrical heating resistor or an induction coil.
