Abstract
964,439. Conveying workpieces through heat-treatment furnaces. ATELIERS DE CONSTRUCTIONS ELECTRIQUES DE CHARLEROI. Aug. 30, 1961 [Aug. 30, 1960; March 4, 1961], No. 31250/61. Heading F4B. Workpieces are carried through an induction furnace by a carrier 1, which is aligned with channels 10, Fig. 3, the carrier 1 being movable to and fro and the furnace chamber being movable up and down to lift the workpieces from the carrier 1 to rest on the chamber lining or transferred to the carrier 1. Workpieces from a shoot 14 adjustably mounted on rails 16 are moved into the furnace by rails 1 and the furnace chambers 5, 6 are lifted relative to the rails 1 to deposit a billet on the furnace lining. After treatment, the furnace chamber is lowered, and the heated billet is moved out of the furnace on the rails 1, whence it is knocked after the furnace has been raised and the rails 1 retracted. The spacing of the sheet 14 and the furnace chambers 5, 6 with their embedded induction coils are so related to the amplitude of the movement of the rails 1 that long billets are properly centred within each coil. With short billets, the movement of the rails 2 may be the same as the billet length.
