Abstract
1,003,381. Continuous metal heating furnaces. SVENSKA METALLVERKENS UGNS A.B. Oct. 21, 1963 [Oct. 20, 1962], No. 41405/63. Heading F4B. In a reheating furnace for metal billets, the work is fed through successive zones by separate walking beam conveyers, so that the time for which the billets remain in the different temperature zones can be regulated. In a furnace having a preheating zone 1 and a soaking zone 2, billets are fed through the zones by separate, independently driven walking-beam conveyers 3, 4. The conveyers 3, 4 are synchronised, and the leading conveyer 3 can be stopped independently while the soaking zone 2 is emptied by conveyer 4 and discharge conveyer 7. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the billets are transferred from the loading conveyer to the soaking zone conveyer down a shoot. A shoot and end discharge opening may follow the soaking zone conveyer.
