Abstract

The system heats up workpieces from a preceding continuous casting machine or rolling mill and delivers to a subsequent rolling mill working at higher speed, comprising a run-through furnace with loading and discharge conveyor. The furnace is of the re-heating type with an oscillating-beam mechanism comprising three beams each with its own drive. A set quantity of workpieces are delivered towards the discharge end of the furnace via the second and third beams at a set speed in each case, after which this quantity only are kept hot by changing the drive speed. Then a different set quantity of workpieces are loaded into the furnace after a set time interval. The first quantity kept hot, are then discharged together from the furnace, the drive speed being changed to match that of the subsequent rolling mill.
