Abstract
1,256,561. Controlling reheating furnaces. NIPPON STEEL CORP. 17 Feb., 1969 [15 Feb., 1968], No. 8425/69. Heading F4B. In a multi-zone continuous furnace, the temperature of a workpiece at the exit of the preheating zone is calculated from the exhaust gas temperature, the velocity of movement and the physical characteristics of the workpiece, and the heating of the heating zone is controlled in accordance with a function relating to the gas temperature in the heating zone, the temperature of the workpiece at the exit of the preheating zone, the measured temperature of a workpiece at the exit of the heating zone and the desired final temperature of the workpiece, and the heating of the soaking zone, or the velocity of a workpiece through the soaking zone is controlled in accordance with the physical characteristics of the workpiece and the difference between the desired temperature of the workpiece at the outlet of the heating zone and the measured temperature at the inlet to the soaking zone.
