Abstract

1,018,740. Valves. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. Dec. 30, 1964 [Jan. 10, 1964], No. 1313/64. Heading F2V. A multi-way valve has a tubular body 5 with three equally-spaced ports 2, 3 and 4 and a rotatable coupling duct 14 with a sealed-indexing drive-unit and through the axis of symmetry of the duct 14 is a spring-loaded shaft 22 extending beyond the duct and carrying a single-beat lift-valve 21 which can co-operate with the end of any one of the ports 2, 3 or 4. The other extremity of shaft 22 co-operates with any one of three stems 27 each sealed by a bellows 29 and axially movable by a pneumatic apparatus 30. The duct 14 interconnects two of the three ports whilst the remaining port is closed by the valve 21, the latter being opened before and closed after rotation of the duct 14. The shaft 22, which may be loaded by adjustable springs disposed between the valve and duct, may also be connected to the valve by means which provide for freedom of movement therebetween.
