Abstract

A fastening for a hinged vehicle window 13 comprises a pair of pivotally connected toggle links, one pivoted to the window and one pivoted to a member which is attached to the body and which is adjustable to vary the compression of a window sealing strip 7 and the distance to which the fastening projects from the vehicle body. As illustrated in Fig. 3 the body member 39 has two plane faces 41 and 43 meeting in a straight edge 45 in contact with the body and is attached to the body by two screws 49 engaging in a tapping member 55 located in a channel on the opposite side of the bodywork to the fastening. The screws 49 extend through slots 53 in the bodywork which limit the adjustable position of the body member 39 along the bodywork. The body member may also be pivoted about the edge 45 by adjustment of the screws 49. In another embodiment, Figs. 7 and 8, the member 39 is rockable on a base member 61 having a flat surface movable along a complementary flat surface of the vehicle body. The base member has inclined surfaces 67 with which corresponding surfaces 71 of the member 39 engage as the latter is tilted so that during adjustment the base member slides within a recess 69 in the body member.
