Abstract

1,014,832. Spray carburetters. A. C. F. INDUSTRIES, Inc. Aug. 3, 1962 [Aug. 14, 1961; Oct. 23, 1961], No. 29873/62. Heading F1B. A fuel metering rod 66, actuated by intake manifold suction acting upon diaphragm 80, extends through a metering restriction 69, and is pressed into a plastic spring retainer 70. The retainer 70 is urged by lift spring 78 against diaphragm 80 which is loaded by a spring 90 pressing on a similar plastic retainer 88. The variable restriction 69 is in parallel with a fixed restriction 105, Fig. 4, feeding a well 103 which is connected to the main fuel well 20 and also serves as an idling fuel well for the idling tube 111. The metering rod 66 passes through an emulsifying tube 62 in the well 20 and is situated eccentrically of the restriction 69. An accelerating pump 16 is connected through a lost-motion connection 124 to linkage connected to the throttle valve and discharges through a passage 18 and nozzle 118 into the passage 58 leading to the fuel nozzle 60. A choke valve 26 is controlled by a bimetallic coil 130. The carburettor body 30, float chamber cover 14, and fuel supply passages 16, 20 are formed as an integral member to which is fitted a plastic float chamber 36.
