A spring mattress edge support or stabilizer 7 is composed of wire of circular, oval, rectangular or diamond shaped crosssection and is oval in shape with its ends knotted to the adjacent wire at 12, 14 a tension spring 26 being connected at its ends to indentations 19, 20 in the wire. The ends of the wire may alternatively be twisted together or welded.
