Abstract

1,132,159. Mattresses. UNITED STATES BEDDING CO. 9 May, 1966, No. 20392/66. Heading A4M. A spring mattress comprises a handle 17 secured to a side wall 14 by threaded fasteners 38 passed through the handle ends and through side wall grommets 40 to be anchored by nuts 42 to a side edge stabilizer 18, the latter being of resilient wire and comprising upper and lower horizontal portions 22, 24 and coplanar, V-shaped side portions 26 having their apices directed towards each other. The fasteners 34 extend through the helically wound apices 28 of the side portions 26. The stabilizer 18 may be in two parts 20 (as shown) or may be formed in one piece as a closed loop. Helical wires 32 secure the stabilizer 18 to the border wires 30.
