Abstract

100,821. Serex, C. E. April 20, 1916. Valves; valve-gear.-The admission and exhaust valves 1, 2 are so inclined that their stems cross each other below the cam shaft 7. The carns act through levers 8 which multiply their movement and carry at their ends screws 9 for taking up wear. The cams and levers are lubricated through the hollow cam shaft and holes leading to the part of the cam where ccntact first takes place. The cam shaft is driven by chain gearing from the crank-shaft through an eccentrically-mounted intermediate shaft 16, by which the vertical chain 20 may be tightened. The chain 19 which drives the shaft 16 is tightened by adjusting the guide-pulley 17 horizontally. The chain 20 has a less linear velocity than the chain 19.
