[Also in Division F4] In a seal between a rotary drying drum and a drier furnace, the gap between the drum and furnace is surrounded by a stationary annular duct with which an annular air suction channel is in uninterrupted communication, which channel extends in a radial direction with respect to the rotary axis of the drum. The gap 3 between a rotary drying drum 1 and furnace 2 is sealed by an annular, stationary duct thereabout and a suction channel 5 opening thereinto which extends in a radial direction relative to the rotary axis of the drum. An annular disc 6 is mounted on the drum shell and forms with the wall of the channel 5 a labyrinth seal. The channel 5 narrows in width towards the duct 4 in the form of a nozzle and is extended by a cylinder 7 surrounding and spaced from the drum, one end of which has a casing 8 slidable in the axial direction for use as an air inlet. A suction pipe 9 leads from the duct 4 to a fan 10 and has a valve 11.
