Abstract

1,006,215. Inductors. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. Oct. 17, 1962 [July 19, 1961 (2); July 20, 1961], Nos. 26152/61, 26153/61 and 26414/61. Heading H1T. [Also in Division H3] A variable inductance for a radio receiver tuner comprises a number of sets of coils such as C, F, I, L, each set being associated with one waveband, tuned by aluminium slugs within the coil former which are moved together by a single control rod. The coils may comprise two spaced coils connected in parallel to give finer and more linear tuning. The control rod is moved by an arm 31 against a spring, and the arm is moved by one of a number of push buttons 18 ... 21 so arranged that when one is pressed it remains in, but the previously pressed button springs out. The push button shafts each carry a nut, which cannot rotate. to press the arm, and fine tuning is effected by turning the buttons.
