Abstract

1,237,496. Linkwork. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 28 May, 1969 [31 May, 1968], No. 26979/69. Heading F2K. [Also in Divisions H1 and H3] In a push-button set for a radio or TV receiver comprising a push-button 5 and button bar 3 depressible against a spring 7, a coupling disc 13 provided with teeth 25, 27 for engaging teeth 23, 29 on the button 5 and a sleeve 15, and a pin 33 which extends into a slanting groove 17 in the sleeve 15, a predetermined waveband is obtained by depressing a button bar 3 which causes the sleeve 15 to rotate due to the pin- and-groove coupling so as to rotate the disc 13 and a finger 11 (Fig. 2) on the disc co-operates with a spring biased slide 37 to actuate a waveband switch 39. A spring 45 requiring a greater compression force than spring 7 enables the button 5 to press the button bar in without altering the setting of the waveband selection disc 13. If waveband adjustment is required then further depressing of the button 5compresses spring 45 and the teeth 23, 25 are engaged. Then by rotating the button 5, the disc 13 may be rotated in a stepwise manner, due to the interengagement of the teeth 27, 29, to any one of a number of fixed positions. The corresponding position of the finger 11 adjusting the slide 37 and waveband switch 39 to the associated waveband. A waveband dial 41 may be provided. On release of the button 5 a further spring 53 biases the button outwardly to that shown by 51 where teeth 55, 57 on the bar 3 and inside of the button engage so that by rotating the button 5 the bar 3 is rotated to adjust a tuning device 9 which may include capacitance diodes. In a modification, the spring 45 may be removed and the front end of the button bar 3 may be extended out from the front of the button 5, as shown dotted for the left-hand button, so that the button bar 3 can be depressed without the teeth 23 and 25 engaging. The sleeve 15 may be of nylon.
