Abstract

1,086,346. Push-button tuners. T. OHASHI. June 13, 1966 [June 21, 1965], No. 26330/66. Heading H3Q. A push-button tuner comprises a pushbutton rod 1 and a setting plate rod 2, both slidable in a housing 3, rod 2 carrying a setting plate 14 pivotable about point 15, a locking member 17, 18 for locking the setting plate in any desired position to enable the tuner to select a desired frequency, and a cam 16 co-operating with the locking member to effect locking of plate 14. Cam 16 carries pins 21, 22 engaged in a longitudinal slot in rod 2 for relative sliding thereon. Pin 21 extends to engage in an oblique slot in rod 1. To set the apparatus push-button 13 is depressed, causing both rods to move, cam 16 abutting locking member 18 at 18b, until plate 14 meets a tuning treadle 20, pre-set to the desired frequency. Plate 14 then rotates to the required position, and as button 13 is further depressed, cam 16 is forced under portion 18b of member 18 to press member 17 against plate 14 and hence lock plate 14 in the position selected. On releasing pressure on button 13, it returns to its original position under the effect of spring 11. When the button is subsequently depressed, the locked plate 14 causes treadle 20 to rotate to select the desired frequency. The oblique slot in which pin 21 of cam 16 engages in rod 1 causes, on depressing button 13, rod 2 to be deflected to abut the edge of the slot in which rod 2 slides in housing 3, so that rod 2, and hence plate 14, assumes precisely the same position each time the apparatus is actuated.
