Abstract

[Also in Division E2] In push-button tuning apparatus having a pair of arms 5,11 one of the arms 5 has a tuning frequency setting plate 3, a locking member 4 for locking the plate 3 and a slidable actuating member 1 for operating the locking member 4, and the other of the arms 11 has a push-button 12, the pair of arms 5, 11 are assembled with a connecting member 10 which has an inclined piece 7 which engages an inclined cut-away portion 15 of the arm 11 such that when the arm 11 is pushed the connecting member 10 is inclined to the axis of the arm 11 to move the arm 5 transversely to the direction of operation. This transverse movement of the arm 5 in an upward direction in Fig. 2 causes precise engagement of the edges of the arms 5 and 11 with the opening in the front plate A so as to enable precise re-setting of the tuning frequency setting crank B to be obtained. On initial inward movement of the button 12 the tuning frequency setting plate moves to the angle set by the tuning crank B and the member 1 slides on the arm 5 to actuate the locking means 4. The frequency setting plate 3 is now locked and on further pressing the button the connecting member 10 is rotated anticlockwise about T piece 2 by end piece 7 engaging the inclined part 15. This produces the transverse movement of both arms 5, 11. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown), the positions of the slot 9 and end piece 8 are interchanged.
