Abstract

1,207,014. Releasable fastenings. GENERAL INSTRUMENT CORP. 4 Sept., 1968 [24 Nov., 1967], No. 42140/68. Heading E2A. [Also in Division H3] The specification describes a locking means 86 (Figs. 4 and 5) for a tuning frequency setting-plate 80 and an anti-jam plate 140 (Figs. 4, 5, 8 and 10 and Figs. 1 and 2, not shown), for preventing wrong selection of pushbuttons 94 and a lever 108 of a push button tuner (see Division M3Q). When button key 48 is pressed cam 80 is moved to the angular position set by tuning crank 42 and on further pressing the button key 48 part 90 (Fig. 5) engages lock lever 86 to lock the tuning frequency cam 80 in position. The cam 80 is only released by pulling the button key. The lockable cams 80 are secured to side keys 66, 68 which are selectively operated one at a time by the button key 48. This is achieved by shuttles 100 which are moved transversely by a shuttle plate 104 operated by a lever 108. An anti-jam plate 140 is secured to the shuttle plate 104 and has pairs of slots 150, 152 (Figs. 8 and 10) for each button 94 to prevent wrong selection. With the lever 108 and shuttle 100 in the left position (Fig. 8) when the button 94 is pulled forward the lever 108 and shuttle 100 is prevented from movement to the right. Similarly when the lever 108 and shuttle 100 are in the right position with the button key 48 pulled out (Fig. 9, not shown), no movement of the lever 108 or shuttle is permitted. If the lever 108 is wrongly positioned in the center (Fig. 10) then edges 148, 146 and 142 prevent the side keys 66, 68 and button key 48 from outward movement.
