Abstract

1283977 Releasable fastenings R GRANDIN 1 Oct 1969 [4 Oct 1968] 48371/69 Heading E2A [Also in Divisions H1 and H3] A push button tuning device for a radio receiver has a first preadjustable cam 17 determining the tuning frequency, a second cam. 30 integral with or secured to the push button 10, 16 so as to actuate, when the push button is depressed, a cam surface (48, Fig. 2, not shown) to select a frequency band and/or type of modulation and the push-button is. pulled outwardly of the device to release the pushbutton for rotation, and is returnable by depressing, to one of a plurality of stable positions. A rib 35-38 for the required waveband such as short or long and/or modulation - such as FM may be selected by pulling and rotating the button 10. Then on pressing this button 10, the rib cooperates with a notch (47, 48 Fig. 2, not shown) to slide a plate 46 and operate a wave band and/ or modulation change switch 50. The selected frequency is then determined by cam 17 which moves a tuning rocker 20, 20' which may be associated with an inductance. To alter the frequency the button is pulled out so that lever 29 unlocks the cam and the rocker 20, 20' can then be adjusted by tuning knob 13. On repressing the push button the cam 17 is rotated to the new position of the rocker 20 and further pressing of the button causes plate 25 to slide on slide 19 and lock the cam by action of boss 28 engaging plate 29. The radio can be for a car and have a dial 15 (Fig. 1, not shown), and an indicator 53 (54, Fig. 6, not shown) identifies the broadcast station chosen. In a modification (Fig. 7, not shown), the push buttons (101) each have several different length projecting lugs (105) which operate via a pivoted bar (108) and link arrangement (110-112) a. waveband or modulation switch (113). In a further arrangement the different wavebands and/or modulations are selected by a wedge or pin introduced into an opening forming the second cam on the push button to displace a cam or lug and operate to provide the wave band and/or modulation associated that push button.
