Abstract

1369325 Pushbutton tuning arrangements MOTOROLA Inc 1 Aug 1972 [19 Aug 1971] 35926/72 Heading H3Q In a dual band radio receiver having a plurality of memory tabs 50 one of which is associated with each of a plurality of pushbuttons 16, the memory tabs 50 are pivotally mounted on a wave band selector 28 and each tab has a pair of projections 44, 46 with a recess 48 between them, a finger member 60 extends from an actuating member 58 attached to each pushbutton 16 for engaging the memory tab and being received in the recess 48 on withdrawal of the pushbutton, the memory tabs 50 are movable to either of a first or a second position on withdrawal of the pushbutton in accordance with movenient of the waveband selector 28 to a predetermined waveband position and a guide member 56 on each pushbutton engages with an associated memory tab to shift the waveband selector 28, on inward movement of the pushbutton, to a corresponding preselected waveband position. As shown in Fig. 2 with the pushbutton 16 in its normal intermediate position the guide member 56 prevents inadvertent movement of the memory tab 50 from one band position to the other. By pressing in this pushbutton 16 the guide 56 engages the side of the projection 52 of the tab 50 and moves the band selector switch plate 28 to the right (Fig. 6, not shown) to select the FM band. Also the pushbutton 16 selects the required frequency by movement of a treadle bar and core carriage arrangement in the housing (12, Fig. 1, not shown) of the receiver. If the tab 50 is set to the FM position as shown in Fig. 5, and it is required to select the AM waveband for this pushbutton and the waveband switch slide 28 is in the AM position shown in Fig. 5. On withdrawal of this pushbutton the finger 60 moves into the recess 48 and the tab 50 pivots about 42 into the AM position, Fig. 7. When the pushbutton is pressed in, the guide 56 engages the surface of the projection 52 of the tab 50 and the waveband selector slide 28 is set to the AM position. Also when the pushbutton is withdrawn for frequency adjustment the waveband selector slide 28 may also be slid between the AM and FM positions. As the finger 60 of the associated pushbutton is in the recess 48 of the associated memory tab 50 the sliding movement of the selector slide 28 causes the memory tab 50 to be pivoted to the selected waveband position. The waveband selector switch may be selected by a lever 18 which also co-operates with the front panel of the receiver to indicate the waveband selected.
