Abstract

545,992. Ratchet gearing. PHILCO RADIO & TELEVISION CORPORATION. June 24, 1940, No. 10817. Convention date, July 25, 1939. [Class 80 (iii)] [Also in Groups XL and XXXVII] Two shafts are connected together and with a push-button device by ratchet devices so as to rotate simultaneously one step at a time every time the push-button is operated; one shaft is intended to control switches for tuning a radio receiver and the other shaft to control an indicator. The push-button member 31 extends from a slidable member 26 controlled by a. spring 32. A resilient finger 35 is attached by a rivet 36 to the slidable member 26 and acts as a pawl in relation to bent out lugs 24 acting as ratchet teeth on a star-wheel 23 keyed to a shaft 22. The star-wheel 23 co-operates with a flange 45 at one end of a sliding bar 21 controlled by a spring 42, so that the bar is reciprocated at every step of the star-wheel. The other end of the sliding bar 21 has a fork 47, 48 cooperating with a ratchet wheel 19 on the shaft 16, so that each reciprocation of the bar causes a step rotation of the shaft. The shaft 16 carries switch sections for tuning radio receivers in known manner. The shaft 22 carries a tuning indicator, which may be as described in Specification 542,806, [Group XXXVIII]. The arrangement and use of this mechanism in a radio receiver is described in Specification 545,993, [Group XL].
