1,088,199. Push-button tuning mechanisms. R. HOPT. Nov. 17, 1965 [Nov. 21, 1964], No. 48830/65. Heading H3Q. A push-button device for actuating tuner units of radio apparatus, particularly television receivers, comprises one or more push buttons 2 each of which operate simultaneously more than one tuning unit (e.g. UHF and VHF), and a switch for operatively connecting one of these tuner units into the circuits of the apparatus, the or each push button 2 having a cylindrical part (14, Figs. 2, 3, not shown) and a cap 13 rotatable but non-displaceable thereon and having a projection (pin 11) extending therefrom and so positioned that, on depressing the push button, the projection 11 either displaces or moves idly past a switching member (flap 4 pivoted about 6) to operate (by movement of arm 7) the said switch, depending on the angular position of the cap relative to the cylindrical portion. The cap is urged into either of two end positions in which a radial projection 19 on the cylindrical part abuts one of a plurality of longitudinal fingers (16) of the cap, by a spring 21 acting between pins 22, 23 on the cylindrical part and the cap, respectively. The fingers (16) terminate in claws (15) which engage behind a shoulder of the cylindrical part (14) to hold the cap 13 thereon. The cap may be of resilient synthetic resin material.
