1352342 Channel selection switches PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 9 June 1971 [2 July 1970] 32256/70 Heading H3Q [Also in Division H1] A selector switching device has manually operable means 2 comprising a plurality of selectively operable elements 3 each of which is movable into an operative position A to actuate an associated selector switch 9, 10 and which are also constructed to operate means 12 for actuating a further switch 20 so that this switch is brought from one to another condition when a selected element is moved to the operative position to actuate the associated selector switch. The further switch is restored to the one condition when the associated selector switch has been actuated. Each of the elements 3 is movable beyond the operative position and is constructed to actuate the further switch during this movement so that the further switch is brought from the one condition to the other and is restored to the one condition when the element is returned to the operative position. The selector switching device may be used for a varicap tuner with AFC. When a push-button 2 is pressed a cam surface 17 moves a latching plate 12 to the right so that its end 23a causes contacts 21, 22 of an AFC cut out switch 20 to close (Fig. 3, not shown) before the push-button already in the operative position is released by the latching plate 12. The switch 20 does not open again until the latching plate 12 moves back to lock the pressed push-button by engagement of surface 18 under the plate 12. The pairs of contacts 9, 10 of the channel switch associated with this pushbutton are operated by an extension 8 on the element stem 3. The AFC is also cancelled when the potentiometers or other means for controlling the voltage supplied to the varicap tuner are adjusted to alter the tuning. This adjustment may be made when the push-button is pressed to the limit of its movement beyond the operative position. A cam surface 25 engages into the associated hole 15 in the plate 12 to move the plate 12 to the right so as to operate the AFC cut out switch 20.
