Abstract

1,005,863. Dispensing adaptor; container closures. PROCTER & GAMBLE CO. Dec. 17, 1962 [Dec. 15, 1961], No.47510/62. Headings B8D and B8T. A dispensing adaptor for discharging a fluent product as an additive to a base product comprises an annular storage chamber 25 defined by inner and outer walls 24 and 23 respectively, at least one passageway 38 leading from the chamber to a discharge opening 27 at the upper end of the inner wall, the chamber being closed at its lower end by a movable, deformable or perforable seal member 30. The adaptor may be screwed on to the neck of a collapsible tube 20 causing the seal member to be forced up- wards as projections 36 contact the neck edge of the tube. On squeezing the tube base product is dispensed through the opening 27 and also enters the annular chamber whereby additive material is forced through the passageway 38 and out through the opening 27. The passageway 38 may be tapered. In a modification the seal member has sections which can be punched out when the adaptor is used. Various modifications of seal member are described. The annular storage chamber may have one or more dividing walls to contain two or more additive products and the adaptor may have a depending skirt.
