In a textile spinning-frame, in which a shaft 44 carrying tapes supporting traversed elements such as ring-rails, balloon restrictors, and thread guides, is reciprocated and advanced stepwise as described in Specification 1, 005, 012, the shaft is loaded just to offset the weight of the elements by means which comprises a torsion-bar 72. The torsion bar extends the length of the frame and is connected to the shaft by an arm of a length which varies during the build constituted by a cam 66 pivoted in forked arms 70 of a bracket 68 secured to the bar. To enable one cam to serve under different conditions e.g. those brought about by the installation of a new torque rod, the angular position of the cam can be changed by a bolt 80.
