Abstract

1,003,447. Container closures. W. H. CALF. July 29, 1964 [Aug. 2, 1963; Dec. 24, 1963; March 10, 1964], Nos. 30844/63, 50911/63 and 10088/64, Heading B8T. [Also in Division F2] A self-locking bush for a cask &c. 14 includes an outer annular body 11 which fits the cask aperture and an inner body 12 threaded thereto; as the inner body is screwed up, locking pins 18 pivoted to lugs 17 on the outer body are engaged by a shoulder of the inner body, whereby the outer ends of the pins are moved upwardly and outwardly to lock against the cask. As shown the body 12 houses a valve 22 normally urged upwardly to the closed position by a spring 23, and which is opened by a fluid injection mechanism (see Division F2) connected to the inner body whereby fluid may pass into the cask via the valve opening and outlets 25. Alternatively the inner body is of solid construction without a valve mechanism.
