Abstract

1,091,614. Valves. VEREINIGTE ARMATUREN G.m.b.H. Dec. 23, 1965 [Dec. 23, 1964], No. 54657/65. Heading F2V. The spindle 3 of a gate valve has a flange 10 located between flanged synthetic bushes 8, 11, bush 8 being located in a cover 7 bolted to the cap 5 and being provided with 0-rings 13. In the closed position shown, the flange 10 abuts flange 9 of bush 8 to enhance sealing. When the valve is opened, the closure member 2 abuts the cap in the region of the bore 6 and flange 10 moves into contact with flange 12 of bush 11, thereby allowing the cover to be removed to permit inspection of the 0-rings. The bushes 8, 11 may be of a super -polyamide having some elasticity. Optionally, the space between the 0-rings may be filled with an acid-free grease or molybdenum disulphide.
