985, 307. Reactor pressure vessels. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. March 26, 1962 [April 7, 1961], No. 12705/61. Heading G6C. In a nuclear reactor concrete pressure vessel, a non-return value permits outward flow from the vessel when the internal pressure exceeds a predetermined value. As shown, the pressure vessel 15 has an aperture 21 closed by the flap 27 which is urged into engagement with the seat 22 by the spring 31. An internal pressure rise above the limit causes pin 28 to steer to release 27. The valve closes against back-flow or stop 33 prevents movement over top dead centre. Specification 812,264 is referred to.
